I will continue to prioritize as a school board member
UNITED FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION
I was born and raised in a working class, union household here in Madison. I love this community and would not be who I am today without the opportunities this school district afforded me. I believe public education is a human right, essential for a well-functioning democracy, and that all students should have access to the educational opportunities they deserve. Public schools are the great social equalizer that we must invest in to prepare the innovative workforce of tomorrow.
ARTS EVERY DAY
Our public schools should unlock lifelong curiosity and a love of learning, nurture critical thinking, build a sense of community, and establish a confident next generation of Madison leaders. By integrating the arts into core curricula and offering daily opportunities for creativity, we can promote equity, academic achievement, positive behaviors, and improved attendance for all students while supporting smaller class sizes, more planning time, and innovation in the classroom.
SAFE + HEALTHY SCHOOLS
Together we must stand for safe learning environments that are welcoming and inclusive for students of all backgrounds, cultures, languages, and identities. Young people should feel hopeful about their lives and futures rather than scared about violence and insecurity. Throughout my career I have worked for safe and healthy schools throughout Wisconsin and I look forward to continuing to bring this expertise to the MMSD Board of Education.
